Strictly Come Dancing for Neurology

Staff at St. James’ Hospital, Dublin don their dancing shoes to raise money for the neurology department

MS Ireland is delighted to support the neurology department of St. James as they organise their Strictly Come Dancing event in the Red Cow Inn on Friday 19th of October. MS Care Centre care worker Anita Aldersone joins 25 hospital staff members to compete for the title of champion.

MS Ireland has a unique partnership with St James’ as we share a physiotherapist and occupational therapist. Elaine and Clare meet people with MS both in clinics in the hospital and in our MS Care Centre in Rathgar. The money raised through this event will be used, in part, to keep this service operating. Money will also be used to run the neurology department in general which is used by hundreds of people with MS every year.

All of the dancers have been practicing for weeks and have been put through their paces by dance instructors. Our representative, Anita, has been partnered with Colin Doherty, consultant neurologist. Anita says that she is enjoying the challenge and is looking forward to the main event.

“I love dancing so when the girls asked me if I would get involved I was delighted. The training has been harder than I thought but it has been great fun and little by little we are improving. Like most we would like to win but I think we are all just happy to raise money for the neurology department.”

MS Ireland wishes all dancers and the organizers the best of luck.
