Self Manage Pain

Chronic Pain Ireland (CPI) launches self management workshops

CPI launched a series of one day workshops developed to give a speedy and effective introduction and follow up to the benefits of self management in relation to chronic pain

For PwMS experiencing chronic pain this day will give them an understanding of the personal experience and also help identify self-management strategies. It will also help them regain some control and so be able to cope with the effects of the condition. The workshop provides both a valuable stand alone experience and the motivation for many participants to pursue pain management strategies along with medical treatment.

The course often leads to the adoption of positive health promoting habits especially in relaxation, pacing and understanding stress

Topics covered include:

  • The pain stress cycle
  • Pain and cognition
  • Building the relaxation process
