How much Services can be Accessed

Respite Care Centre is a 12 bedded unit, so there is a limit to the number of people we can accommodate at any one time. When a person applies to come in for respite they have specific dates that they request. We of course try to ensure as far as possible that a person gets the dates they require. At the care centre we provide respite for people with a wide range of care needs and levels of dependency. In order to ensure the highest and safest level of care are maintained at the centre a persons  levels of care /dependency are a consideration when an booking is made for respite.

A stay at the centre can be paid for using private Health Insurance or a medical card. Residents are asked for a voluntary contribution of €20 per day.

Case work - there is no limit on the amount of case work services a person can access. What usually happens is that when a client encounters a difficult or an issue arises for them they contact their regional worker. When the issue is resolved, their will be a natural break in the contact between the regional worker and the client. If and when other issues arise for the client they can re contact the regional worker. There is no charge for this service.

Information Sessions and Seminars - Every year a number of sessions are organised on a variety of topics that are relevant to people who are living with MS. Access to these sessions could be restricted if they are over subscribed  . There could be a small charge to cover cost eg room hire, speaker cost, and refreshments.

Physical activities, Physiotherapy and Yoga. - Access to these sessions could be restricted if they are over subscribed  . There is sometimes a small charge to cover cost. The will depend on whether the local voluntary branch supports the programme financially or some fundraising activity has raised funds for a specific programme

MS Information Line  -   contact with this service is usually by telephone (Tel. 1850 233233) and the contact is often from a person who has been recently diagnosed or a family member of that person. The request is generally for information about MS. This is not an ongoing service and if it is that the caller has on going issues they will be referred to their local regional office. There is no charge for this service.
