Update: MS Biomarkers Study

MS Biomarkers Study at the University of Galway interim progress report

Dear Volunteers,

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the individuals who have volunteered in our ongoing MS Biomarkers Study at the University of Galway. Your support and dedication are invaluable to the entire research group.

Since the launch of our study, at the beginning of the year, we have received an overwhelming response from all of you. The total number of volunteers who have generously reached out to us stands at 85, with 56 individuals living with MS and 29 control volunteers. We are delighted to note that many of you have come forward from outside of Galway, emphasizing your commitment to making a difference.

We are pleased to inform you that we have successfully collected samples from more than 20 people to date. We are currently working diligently to process each sample according to the established protocol. However, please bear in mind that the analysis is a time-consuming task, as there are only two individuals working on it. Rest assured, we are making progress and will be commencing the initial tests on these samples shortly.

We want to assure you that we are committed to providing regular updates on the study's progress. We understand the anticipation surrounding the results and the potential impact they may have on MS research and we will be in touch as soon as we have meaningful findings to share.

In the meantime, we would like to extend our invitation to anyone who is interested but has not yet participated in the study. We are still actively seeking additional volunteers who are willing to contribute their samples for further analysis. Your involvement could be pivotal in expanding our cohort and understanding of MS and potentially improving the lives of those affected by this condition.

Once again, we extend our sincerest appreciation to all the volunteers who have participated thus far. We are honoured to have you as part of our research community.

With gratitude,

Bianca Castelli and Shima Shapoori
