MS Ireland Online Classes Christine Murphy

Due to the impact of COVID-19  we had to change the way we do things and adapt some of our services by moving them online. Christine is living with MS and avails of MS Ireland's services, here she tells how she adapted to our new way of doing things, and the benefits of taking part in our online classes.

Christine Murphy

My name is Christine Murphy and I was diagnosed with MS in 1999. I have been extremely lucky to be able to avail of physio-led exercise classes in the MS Society Midwest Regional office in Limerick.

These weekly classes involve alot of strengthening exercises like squats, lunges, planks etc. They have helped my mobility in that I can walk better and further as well as decreasing my fatigue levels

Exercise also helps to lift my mood and to sleep better. With the COVID-19 pandemic, attending these classes was no longer an option. Luckily, they were not cancelled but moved online.

It was also great to chat to everyone during a time of isolation due to social distancing. We know each other for years and being able to keep in touch via technology has been fantastic. I discovered that I can exercise from home quite easily. There is no excuse not to, when you all you have to do is stroll into your living room and turn on a computer!
