Congratulations Roisin! A whoopsy-splunkers competition is up!

Well done to Roisin from Co Galway. She won last week’s competition, guessing correctly that the rabbit was indeed late for a very important date.

Roald Dahl loved word play. You can find some of his wordy creations throughout his catalogue of stories. It’s nice to be a little silly sometimes isn’t it? And it doesn’t get much sillier than ‘Gobblefunk’, the name Dahl gave to his made-up language in The BFG. We just love this. Next time you read one of Dahl’s books, write down some of the words, find out their meaning and see if you can use them in your own sentences!

On with this week’s Dahl-esque competition! When Dahl created words, the meanings often reflected the actual word. We want you to use your imaginations this week (try not to use Google for this one!) and think very hard about what the answer could be. If you say it out loud it might help.

What does ‘phizz-whizzing’ mean?

Tip: If you said something was phizz-whizzing, what would you mean?

As this is a very special week, the prize is scrumdiddlyumptious! We’ll say no more but if you’re a fan of the wonderful world of Roald Dahl you won’t want to miss out on this!

Email your answer to read@msreadathon.ie by 5pm next Monday (31st October) to be in with a chance of this gloriumptious prize!

GOOD LUCK!
