50k Challenge

Things are revving up at MS Ireland as they launch The May 50k campaign 2023. The May 50K is a global fitness and fundraising challenge to raise money for MS research worldwide and also support MS Ireland projects and services. MS Ireland is calling on participants of all ages and abilities to take up the month long challenge in the run up to World MS Day on 30th May. All fundraising is done through our website here where you can log your KM’s hook up to your fitness devices and blog your way through the month.

The premise is simple, walk, roll or run 50 kilometres (or more!) during the month of May in return for sponsorship.

Take part on your own, create a family team or get your workplace involved. It’s a virtual event and can be done anywhere. Clock those kilometres on the way into work, around your garden, in the supermarket as it all counts.

MS Ireland have teamed up, for a third year with the MSIF, and MS Societies from Canada, The Netherlands, Germany and the UK to Leave MS where it belongs, behind us.

The money fundraised helps support people affected by MS around the world including Ireland, alongside funding life-changing research into the prevention, treatment and finding a cure for multiple sclerosis.

Lyndsey O’Driscoll from Beaumont in Dublin is taking part in the challenge in May “I am walking the MS May 50k in memory of my dad, Thomas Darby, he passed away in March 2005 after living with MS for almost 16 years. He was a wonderful character and loved life so much. This year on his anniversary and I thought I would personally challenge myself to walk 150km, in his name, to raise awareness of all the wonderful work the MS Society of Ireland do, while also helping to raise some funds for much needed research”.

Every step you take, every kilometre you clock, helps people get access to the treatment they need today and takes us closer to finding a cure for MS. There are over 9,000 people in Ireland living with multiple sclerosis.

30% of all funds raised go towards funding life-changing MS Research and 70% goes to local services and supports in Ireland.

Sign up and receive your first donation to receive a May 50k T-shirt and there are It’s important that we stay fit and healthy by looking after our physical and mental well-being. The May 50K is a great way to combine the two!
