Speaking at the launch Aoife Kirwan, MS Ireland Information Officer said “MS Ireland is proud to announce the release of Exploring MS, a new activity booklet created to help children learn about multiple sclerosis (MS) in an accessible and engaging way.

“Our goal with Exploring MS is to provide a valuable tool for people living with MS to use when discussing the condition with the little ones in their lives,” said Aoife Kirwan. “We believe this booklet not only empowers children with knowledge and empathy but also supports families in fostering meaningful, supportive conversations about MS.

“Designed for young readers, this booklet blends educational content with interactive activities to foster empathy and understanding for those living with MS. The resource can help parents living with MS communicate with their children about the condition in an engaging, accessible, and supportive way.”

For Orla Marron, a mother of two children aged 11 and 9 who is living with MS, Exploring MS has been invaluable. “I would have loved to have had a resource like this when I was diagnosed. It would have been a great conversation starter and helped me to navigate a challenging topic with my children,” she shared. “Going through the booklet together, since its creation, has been wonderful—the activities are engaging, the explanations are simple yet thorough, and it’s made talking about MS so much easier.”"

The booklet aims to dispel common misconceptions while helping young readers process their feelings and develop compassionate responses to the challenges faced by family members, friends, or community members with MS.

It’s not just a learning tool—it’s a conversation starter, offering families a way to navigate discussions about MS with empathy and clarity.
