Meet the Speakers - National Conference 2023

MS Ireland are delighted to announce three of our guest speakers at the National Conference on Saturday, 16th September in Athlone.

Dr Brendan Kelly

Dr. Kelly is a HRB/Wellcome Trust Irish Clinical Academic Training (ICAT), Fellow in Radiology in St Vincent’s University Hospital, and a PhD candidate at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics in UCD. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Radiologists RCSI, holds BSc and MSc qualifications in Medical Imaging and MBBCh from UCD.

He was a 2020 Fulbright Ireland HRB-HealthImpact Scholar to Stanford University Centre for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medicine and Imaging. His research interests are in the clinical application of AI to Radiology and has presented and published on these topics nationally and internationally.

Hugh Kearney Newly Diagnosed Information Seminar

Dr Hugh Kearney

Dr Kearney completed a PhD in University College London investigating the use of spinal cord MRI in MS and its association with disability. He completed his clinical training in neurology in Ireland, including a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in genomics with FutureNeuro.

He currently works as a consultant neurologist in St James’s Hospital, and is leading the newly established MS unit. He is also part of the Academic Unit of Neurology in Trinity College Dublin, and is developing a research group focused on translational research in multiple sclerosis, including the development of diagnostic biomarkers.

Dr. Guido Giunti

Dr. Guido Giunti

Dr. Guido Giunti is a medical doctor specialized in digital health solutions for chronic care. He has worked in academic, clinical, and industrial settings at top organizations in Europe; and he has combined his medical, technological, and entrepreneurial expertise to lead the development of "More Stamina", a gamified digital health solution for people with Multiple Sclerosis. 

Dr. Giunti's work has received numerous awards, including a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship, the Best Doctoral Dissertation award, and recognition as one of Finland's top healthcare innovators by the medical magazine Mediuutiset. In 2021, he was selected as one of Argentina's Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the year by the Junior Chamber International due to his work on medical innovations. 

Dr. Guido Giunti currently leads the work on Digital Therapeutics at Trinity College Dublin and is an Adjunct Professor of Digital Health Design and Development at the University of Oulu in Finland.
