MS Ireland will shortly be releasing an advocacy statement for 2016. The aim of the statement will be to form the basis of a long-term advocacy strategy which will guide us in our ongoing work of trying to make Ireland a better place for people affected by MS, whoever ends up entering the Dáil next Spring.
The advocacy statement will also be used to raise awareness of key issues with political representatives in the run-up to the general election and to guide people affected by MS in questions they can ask of candidates during the campaign. We are also planning to produce some additional materials with tips on how to make the most of the campaign, including some suggested questions for candidates.
For this, we need your help – we would very much welcome your thoughts and input on the draft advocacy statement. If you have any comments or suggestions, please send them directly to Harriet, our Information, Advocacy and Research Officer at harrietd@ms-society.ie
Please send your comments and feedback by Friday, 15th January 2016, in order for us to be able to produce materials in time for the election. There will be further opportunities to feed into our ongoing advocacy work later in the year.
We look forward to hearing from you.
