Shiatsu Society helps MS Ireland

Diana Cassidy of the Shiatsu Society of Ireland seen here presents a cheque for €1184 to Patricia and Carmel, MS Ireland, Cork.

A series of Shiatsu events were held in various locations throughout the Country during October. Shiatsu practitioners offered short treatments for donations to the MS Society who recently launched a campaign Friends of the MS Care Centre. The aim of this campaign is to raise over €250,000 for essential services, repairs, renovations and equipment for the MS Care Centre, Ireland ’s only respite and therapy centre for people with MS. Over 8,000 people are affected by multiple sclerosis in Ireland.

Shiatsu is a traditional form of Body Therapy with its origins in Japan and has been shown to help many conditions, relieve the build-up of stress and to restore vitality and well-being, by balancing the flow of energy (Chi) in the meridians as used by acupuncturists. M.S. patients who have had Shiatsu claim that ‘it has helped me feel like a million dollars’ and ‘I have found Shiatsu to be far more effective than any other hands-on therapy I have had’.

“It was decided that this year's fundraiser was going to be for the MS Society as there are some MS patients who are fortunate enough to receive Shiatsu treatments and notice a big improvement in their day to day health as a result” says Diana. "I would like to thank all those who helped with this event. Without you, the people who allowed us to use their space, and also the members of the public who came for treatments, it would not have been the success it was. THANK YOU ALL".
