The Stay Mobile Information Day has been organised by the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland (DDAI). MS Ireland's Midlands Regional Office will be one of the 20 stands showcasing a range of products and services and it runs from 10am – 4pm. The event will be of interest to people with limited mobility, older people, their friends and family as well as carers and professionals in the healthcare area.
Former Minister Mary O’Rourke took part in a photocall to announce details of the upcoming Stay Mobile Information Day on Friday 26th June 2015 in the Radisson Blue Hotel, Athlone. She was accompanied by Margaret Bourke, manager of the Roscommon People with Disabilities Group and disabled driver Joe McCormack from Colehill in Longford.
Mary O’Rourke said, “I am delighted to give the Stay Mobile event my support and I was truly inspired by meeting Joe McCormack and his family. Joe was paralysed from the chest down following a car accident a few years ago and has learned to drive again. Anyone who has lost their mobility or who may be in danger of doing so should come along. It’s free of charge and you are bound to get a lot of practical tips and advice that could help your own situation.”
Richard Ryder, marketing manager of the Disabled Drivers Association said, “Anyone faced with the need to radically change their lifestyle or adapt their living space due to an accident, illness or getting older often find it a very daunting task. Showcasing relevant products and services in one location allows professionals and affected individuals the opportunity to make informed choices.”
Admission is free and there will be complementary tea/coffee and refreshments available throughout the day.
