Gilenya Funded

The HSE to now fund the oral therapy

Yesterday The Irish Times reported that the HSE and the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA) reached an agreement that will see the reimbursement of Gilenya, the oral therapy unavailable to people with MS. The IPHA represents the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland and negotiates on their behalf regarding the supply and price of drugs in Ireland.

It now seems that the negotiations have been successful and a number of drugs caught in the reimbursement deadlock have been guaranteed funding thus making them available to people with various medical conditions.

At the moment we are trying to get more details on when Neurologists will actually be able to prescribe Gilenya. As soon as we have information we will let people know.

For now, MS Ireland really welcomes the news and thanks everyone who helped with the campaign. It is wonderful to see what we can achieve together!
