Minister Burton visits MS Care Centre
The Minister of Social Protection, Joan Burton visited the MS Care Centre today to learn more about the Community Employment Scheme and award participants with their FETAC Level 5 Awards. On hand to congratulate the graduates were their friends and family, staff at the centre and representatives from the Department of Social Protection who provide the scheme.
Minister Burton congratulated the participants:
“Well done to you for your hard work and determination in achieving your goals and obtaining FETAC Level 5 qualifications. Training and personal development offers a chance for personal success, a sense of satisfaction and, in many cases, employment.”
The scheme operating in the MS Care Centre is one of three schemes operated by MS Ireland. Our Regional Offices in Donegal and Galway also run schemes which provide outreach work in the community, which is particularly import in rural communities The Community Employment schemes are currently under review by the Department of Social Protection.
Ava Battles, Chief Executive of MS Ireland thank the Minister for attending but also called on her to protect the schemes and ensure front line services in MS Ireland continue to operate.
